Root Certificate Update Temporarily Delayed

Updating a root certificate can be quite impactful, especially for fielded devices. During today’s scheduled update, the root certificate for the platform was changed.

We were pleased to see that the vast majority of devices did successfully reconnect, however a critical handful did not.

This is something we did anticipate and we fully expected to roll back the update once it went live as customers discovered their devices did not correctly support the new certificate.

We will not be delaying long. We anticipate switching to the new root again sometime next week.

If you noticed your devices disconnect around 8:48pm EST and failed to reconnect, it is very likely they do not yet support the new root certificate. This is something you’ll need to address as soon as possible.

Further details can be found in our blog:

We are finalizing the root certificate switch on Feb. 20th at 8p EST.

We have reached out to the small group of customers where our monitoring indicated potential device connection issues. If you didn’t get an email from us, your device connection logs showed successful reconnections while the updated certificate was live.

We have finalized the switch to the updated certificate.
