Protect Your Losant Account

It’s Tuesday, and I’m Fox with another tip for you.

One of the reasons we share Tuesday Tips is to make sure that we are encouraging the proper use of Losant and promoting best practices. Since we are all in the IoT ecosystem, it’s important to make sure security is top of mind.

If you didn’t know, Losant supports Two-Factor Authentication, which protects your account against unauthorized access even in the event your password has been compromised.

It’s super easy to configure. Once in Losant, if you go to your profile, you will see a tab called “Two-Factor Auth”.

Then, you’ll need an authenticator app like Google Authenticator, or Authy. Google Authenticator is wonderful and available for both Android and iOS.

But, sometimes we may lose the device where we originally set up Two-Factor Authentication, and when this happens, you basically have to set everything up all over again (which can be a real pain). We really enjoy using a tool called Authy because it has desktop and mobile apps.

So, if you ever lose your mobile device, you can always gain access to your accounts through the desktop app. Best of all, if you’re wondering about the difference between Google Authenticator and Authy, they have a great post about it:

P.S. This is not a sponsored post, we just genuinely think this is an awesome tool to use with Losant and hope it provides value to you.

We will be back next week with another tip! Also, feel free to send us some tip ideas! We would love to hear from you about what you would like to learn.

Stay connected.
