Platform Update: Custom HTML Block, Attribute Tags, File Tail Trigger

The Losant Engineers have been hard at work! Earlier this week we introduced Systems (announcement), and we’re back again to announce more amazing features from this release.

You can visit the Platform Release blog post here.

Custom HTML Block

The Custom HTML Block allows developers to add entirely custom visuals to their dashboards using industry-standard technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

Attribute Tags and Description

With this release, you can now add a description and any number of tags to each device attribute. This helps you understand what an attribute represents and how its data is formatted.

File Tail Trigger (Edge)

This release adds the File Tail Trigger, which allows you to tail (i.e. monitor) a file for additions and trigger a workflow with the data that was added to that file. This is very common for monitoring things like log files.

Updated Device Page

With the introduction of a new device type (System) and the addition of new fields to attributes, we thought this was the perfect time to update the user interface on the device page. Be sure to check out the documentation or Platform Release announcement for detailed changes.

As always, we value your feedback and direction. With your input and ideas combined with our roadmap, we can continue to build the best platform for you.

Let us know what you think!

Really like the addition to filters on the device state trigger and ignore data old than n

This immediately gets rid of 2 condition nodes in most of our workflows.

Thanks
