When creating an event, I want to dynamically associate the event with the id of the device that triggered it. However, the drop down under Associated Devices only allows you to statically set the device that will be associated with the event (see below)
Is there some way instead to pass in the id of the device from the payload?

You do have the ability to reference a payload value in the Device ID Template, and I agree that it may not be intuitive due to the dropdown. You have the ability to include a payload reference ({{working}} for example) within this input and select it as the device ID; it will appear visually similar to selecting an actual device.
