Adding items to archiving

I have been archiving data from some devices to an Amazon S3 bucket.

I just realized I had missed one device in the device list.
What happens to old data from the existing device if I add this one to the list and select to “Backfill”.
Will it only backfill this new device or all of them, even though there was data from those devices.
Is it smart enough to know to just backfill the new device?

@Lars_Andersson,

What happens to old data from the existing device if I add this one to the list and select to “Backfill”.

When you add a new device to the list, the Backfill option will backfill data for the list of devices, not just the one you added.

An option that you do have is to Backfill for the single device, and then recreate the list once the data for that single device is in your bucket.

Thank you,
Heath

So does something happen to the data that was already there if I backfill multiple times?
Will there be duplicated records?

@Lars_Andersson,

Yes, there would be duplicate records if you backfilled multiple times.

An option to avoid this, would be to backfill to a different bucket, and then move the files as needed.

Thank you,
Heath
