# Device Recipes are scoped to an application?

Device recipes are scoped to an application, so you can’t use one recipe across multiple applications. You can, however, [export and import](https://docs.losant.com/devices/device-recipes/#recipe-import-export) device recipes, which is our recommended way for sharing complex device recipes.
